Welcome to Alla Prima Art Gallery, Rathowen, Co. Westmeath. Alla Prima is set in a superb courtyard setting and is located in a beautiful village at the heart of Ireland.

“Alla prima” is an Italian expression meaning “at the first” or  “at once” and describes a technique  in which a painting is completed in one session. This is the technique most favoured by Lorraine, resident artist and owner of Alla Prima.

Alla Prima comprises of two separate galleries; an old stable building which has been lovingly restored and converted and a more modern building which has also been updated.

At present the gallery is open on Saturday and Sunday 11.00a.m. - 6.00p.m. or by appointment.
